Save the date cards

What do you get when you have an engineer/bicyclist marry the love of his life? A fun design of gears in purple, gray and yellow, of course!

Wedding invitation books

The wedding invitation books are ready to be mailed! I'm so excited about these because I was able to mix a variety of printing processes to create a stunning book. I can't wait to hear the feedback from guests. Can you imagine receiving a book in the mail for a wedding???

Cortney at BZ Events contacted me in February to see if I could create a book that was a wedding invitation. Her client, Heather, is an avid reader so it would be a perfect fit. As soon as I heard that I could design a book, I was on board. To create a vintage feel, I had the inside pages letterpress printed in two colors on 100% cotton paper. The 8-page book included the wedding invitation, brunch invitation, custom drawn map, accommodations, things to do in Austin, and finally, a short description of the wedding party.

Mailed in a chocolate brown decorative box, the books were covered in a linen book cloth. The custom designed monogram I created was foil printed in chocolate brown on the cover. Each book was hand sewn.

Once the book is opened, the RSVP card peeks out of a chocolate brown sleeve, which is located on the lefthand side of the book. It appears to be a Library card and is "Due Back" on October 8th. Instead of stating the traditional "Names" on the RSVP card to get the guest's name, it stated "Book checked out to..." For the responses, it stated "Yes, we look forward to celebrating your happily ever after" and "No, we regret to miss out on this chapter of your lives". I had so much fun playing with these kinds of phrases!

This project was truly a labor of love, but it was worth every minute of the hard work we all put into it. Congratulations, Heather & Rob! I can't wait to get started on the designs for your wedding reception collateral.

A spectacular Hindu wedding

Now this was a wedding! It spanned 17 hours with two separate ceremonies and three dresses for the bride. The Hindu ceremony began at The Driskill followed by lunch and ended with a civil ceremony, dinner and dancing at the Mexican American Cultural Center.

There aren't many times you get to participate in such an extravagant wedding so I was thrilled when I first met with Ashley and Vasu to discuss their vision. With the wedding colors of gold, purple and red already established, I searched high and low for the right papers. Ashley and Vasu both have discerning tastes and paper choices were extremely important to them. We decided on a beautiful gold foil-printed red imported paper and shimmery metallic for the invitation pocketfold, paper and envelopes. I trimmed the imported paper to create a belly band, which wrapped around the outside of the pocketfold, and sealed it with the monogram I designed for them. This paper was also used to back the thermography (raised) printed invitation. The Sangeet (an Indian ceremony that takes place the night before), Accommodations and RSVP cards inside the pocket were held together with a gold spiral clip.

For the reception, I designed a foldover program for the Hindu ceremony and a panel program for the civil ceremony. I also designed a wedding itinerary, which guests received at their hotel. The itinerary included Ashley and Vasu's favorite places in Austin, the wedding weekend schedule and transportation details.

Enjoy the photos of this elaborate and very cool wedding!

Love Birds Wedding

Jessica and Khalid's wedding was featured in Austin Wedding Day! I was lucky enough to design their wedding stationery from the monogram to save the dates to invitations, and finally, the reception collateral (program fans, bar signs and menus).  All designed with a "love birds" theme and aqua and red colors, this was such a fun wedding to design for! Congrats, Jessica and Khalid, on your one year anniversary! It seems like yesterday that I was working with you.
